Located directly in front of the famed Diamond Head bluff.
Access
Many places to park as there are several look out spots with ample parking. Take Diamond Head Road from Waikiki and Kapiolani Beach park. When you pass the lighthouse you can pretty much park anywhere. There is a walking path that travels from the parking areas down the cliffs to the beach. From there you can paddle out in front of the showers. Or you can walk down and paddle out in front of the bridge the is above you.
Level
Beginner to intermediate level surfing on the average day. When the swell is pumping requires intermediate to expert level.
Crowd
Pretty chill crowd. The morning crew has been surfing there for many many years. Some have been there for decades. Just be respectful and they will adopt you into the line up with ease. The evening crew is a younger bunch. More aggressive but still generally intermediate level. Most of the good people know how to get in and around. There is enough breaks here to satisfy all. AGAIN, just be respectful and people will be good. People will let you slide a few times. But if your a repeat offender you will get a ear full.
Hazards
Inside is reefy at low tide. Not a waikiki sandy bottom so be warned its reef. Other then that its the kind of place where beginners get their chops. So you need to watch them on the inside bobbing around. They tend to get excited and come out to the lineup. So you have your fair share of people that are just dropping in and do not know how to do much other then stand. If the sets are larger then 8/ 9ft (reg face) it will start to section out. At 10ft the waves can give you a good beating but its still doable once you break through the inside pounders.
